Ct Con 2010

Ct Con was on 7/9-7/11 and I was able to go for the entire weekend! One of the things I love about cons is that I get to be around a large group of people who don't look at me a judge. I can be crazy and free as I want to be. Screaming "PASTA" when I want(APH) and dressing in cuteness with no glaring stares. I think though my favorite part of cons is the random moments that can occur. For example my favorite thing was when some random guy touched my shoulder and says "Your it" this cause a spontaneous game for tag at 12am. I think we were all laughing for an hour! There was also a lot of great cosplays! I think that cosplayers are awesome, they are people who wont grow up. I mean come on cosplaying is kinda just like dress up! I wish that I could attend more and larger cons, maybe in the future! Here are some photos from my adventure!

Anyways one of the things I am doing is fulfilling a 30 day challenge. Day 5 was your favorite quote. Mine is "Sometimes you have to look reality in the eye and deny it"
I have always been trying to escape reality. I always am lost in a day dream or filling my head with lovely, sweet things. Don't get me wrong I have a strong enough grip on reality. I know what my responsibilities are and, as much I don't want to, I do my best at them. But come on, how many of you don't wish you could just get lost in your dreaming and not have to face the truth in this world? I think if people lost themselves in impossible then the world could be a slightly happier place. I think that magic happens everyday and is all around us. If we could believe in it a little bit more we could use it to make changes. But that is the optimist in me.

I also think more people need to step back and "deny their reality" Try something new, spend time doing something you really love, or just take 10 mins a day to look at something that can make you smile. I break away each day by going on Deviant Art and Tumblr looking a art work and photos of the things I really enjoy. This adds to my day dreaming and most of time lets me let go of my responsibilities for a while. I am me and nothing else. That is such a calm feeling. Maybe I try to escape more than I should but I can say that it makes me a happier person. (Too many people I interact with aren't) Let go people, believe in magic, have faith in love, and deny was you know is fact(sometimes).

Birthdays in Wonderland

On May 22 I turned 25, yuck! I don't like the idea of getting any older. So I was asked what I wanted to do for my birthday and I wanted to do a Lolita photo shoot. I have been working on creating a fairy garden and would have loved to have taken the photos there but my mother's gardens are so much prettier then mine. So my besties came over. Nalani dress as a little boy, her favorite kind of character to be. Amy was able to wear one of her new outfits as well so we where all excited. Amy's friend Sarah was here, so she took the lovely pictures with her awesome camera. These are the results. We had a hard time keeping a straight face, Amy just couldn't be serious! But it made it even more fun. Thanks to my great friends who help me feel very special. Jumpstart into Spring!

What a great weekend. It was lovely weather and full of great friends! On Friday night I dragged everyone out to the midnight release of the New Moon DVD. But I got more than just the movie! new cookbooks for my tea parties. Yes I couldn't wait till the next day and of course I had to wear Lolita. I went with a dark classic dress, it fit the evening.

On Sat we hit the woods for a hike in the great weather. How I miss hike everyday. When I was a kid I went up the mountain almost everyday. It's hard for me now and Nathan went up in full chain-mail...oh larpers.

And finally Sunday was nice as well and I had to dress Lolita again...yes I need to share.

Do we dream to escape reality or do we escape reality to dream?

So I picked up a new manga the other day(not a surprise). I am really enjoying it. There are two volumes out at the moment, second one was released just before the Alice in Wonderland movie so that might be why it caught my eye (good marketing Tokyopop).

Anyways I wanted to share a conversation between Alice and a character Nightmare that hit me:
Alice: There's nothing beyond a dream. They just end.
Nightmare: Exactly. When you wake up from a dream, there's nothing left but reality.

They were talking about how dreams can be scary but maybe waking up from them is scarier? I personally live for dreaming. Without my daydreams the day would just be boring. Sometimes I love the thought of just living in a dream, because I believe in anything is possible then. Maybe it's just because my dreams are filled with castles and dragons and knights, but I never want to leave them or not believe in them.

So I have decided to do posts about some of the music artist I would love to see and the outfit I would wear to their concerts. Tea Trip!

Yesterday lovely Amy and I dressed up and went to visit the tea shop/house in NY, called Harney and Sons. It is only a little over an hour from us so we took a morning trip to get there. Because we went to enjoy tea and get new tea for our tea parties we had to dress up Lolita. I chose to go classic, one: because I haven't had many chances to wear this outfit and two: didn't want to go too "crazy" for Amy's mother. Here is a pic of me and my darling Amy. We are so close to truly being sisters!

At the tea house there is a shop, a small luncheon cafe and tasting room. After we enjoyed a delicious meal we went to the tasting room and had a great time trying all sorts of tea, from oolongs to black and green teas. It was great! When you purchase tea from Harney's every tin tells you the right amount and brewing time, so each cup of tea will be perfect.
These are the teas I bought. Organic Peppermint and Winter White Earl Gray. The peppermint leaves a wonderful tingle in your mouth and the white earl gray has an almost sweet taste to it. No need for sugar!
